Phasy | Privacy Policy

Effective 6 October 2026 · Phasy for Android · published by Peter Mular (Steady Wobble)

Plain summary

Phasy is a workout timer. Your timers, programs and settings live in local storage on your device. Phasy has no user accounts, and only two things ever leave it: crash reports (used to fix defects, switchable off in Settings → Data & privacy) and the ad-related processing Google performs when ads are shown (in regions where required, a consent form asks about ad personalization first; you can decline and revisit that choice anytime from Settings → Data & privacy; see Advertising).

1. Data stored on your device

Everything you create (timers, programs, step images, settings) is stored locally on your device and stays there. The export/share feature creates a file only when you use it, and you choose what happens to that file. Uninstalling the app removes this local data.

2. Crash reports

Phasy uses Firebase Crashlytics (Google) to collect anonymized crash reports so defects can be diagnosed and fixed. A report contains the technical details of the crash: stack traces, the state of the app at the moment of the crash, app version, and device characteristics such as model and OS version, plus a random identifier that is specific to this installation of the app. Reports never contain your timers, program names, images, or anything you typed.

Crash reporting is on by default (legitimate interest in shipping a working app, with a clear opt-out). You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Data & privacy → Send crash reports. If you turn it off, reports already stored on the device for sending are removed. Google's processing under Crashlytics is described in the Firebase privacy information.

3. Advertising

Phasy is free and ad-supported, using Google AdMob.

When ads are shown, Google and its ad-technology partners process data to select and deliver them: for example the Android advertising ID of your device, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and information about the ad shown to you, such as when ads appear and whether you interacted with them. Phasy itself never uses what you type into it for ads: ad selection happens on Google's side, based on your Google-wide ad settings where you consented, and on general signals about the placement, not on your timers or program names. How Google uses this information is described in Google's notice on partner sites and apps; you can review and change your Google-wide ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.

5. Children

Phasy is a general-audience productivity/fitness tool and is not directed at children under 13 (16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, such as the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to its processing, or to withdraw consent (including for ads, as described above). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@steadywobble.com; you can also object to or complain about Google's ad processing through Google's own ad settings. If you are in the EEA or UK and believe your rights were infringed, you may complain to your national data-protection supervisory authority.

7. Retention and security

Local data lives on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its storage. Crash reports are retained by Firebase only for as long as needed for the purposes described in the Firebase privacy information. Consent and ad-related records held by Google follow Google's retention practices.

8. Changes to this policy

If Phasy's data handling changes, this page will be updated with a new effective date, and where a change affects consent, the consent form will ask again. The current version always lives at this address.
